Prophecy

MASSACRE OF BABIES

Thus saith the LORD; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rachel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not. (Jeremiah 31:15 KJV)
Fulfillment
Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently inquired of the wise men. Then was fulfilled that which was spoken by Jeremiah the prophet, saying, In Rama was there a voice heard, lamentation, and weeping, and great mourning, Rachel weeping for her children, and would not be comforted, because they are not. FLIGHT TO EGYPT
Prophecy
When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt. (Hosea 11:1 KJV)

When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son. (Matthew 2:14-15 KJV)
FORERUNNER OF THE MESSIAH

Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the LORD, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the LORD of hosts. (Malachi 3:1 KJV; Isaiah 40:3)
Fulfillment
This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. (Luke 7:27 KJV; Luke 1:17; John 1:23)
MINISTRY IN GALILEE
Prophecy
Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her vexation, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations. The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shadow of death, upon them hath the light shined. (Isaiah 9:1-2 KJV)
Fulfillment
And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim: That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah: the prophet, saying,The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles; (Matthew 4:13-14 KJV)
AS A PROPHET
Prophecy
The LORD thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken. (Deuteronomy 18:15 KJV)
Fulfillment
Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world. (John 6:14, KJV; See Acts 3:19-26)
PRIEST IN THE ORDER OF MELCHIZEDEK
Prophecy
The LORD hath sworn, and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. (Psalm 110:4 KJV)
Fulfillment
Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchizedek. (Hebrews 6:20 KJV; See Hebrews 5:5-6; 7: 15-17)
SOME OF HIS CHARACTERISTICS
Prophecy
And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD; (Isaiah 11:2 KJV; See Isaiah 61:1)
Fulfillment
And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and man. (Luke 2:52 KJV; See Luke 4:18)
REJECTED BY HIS OWN PEOPLE
Prophecy
He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not… (Isaiah 53:3 KJV)
Fulfillment
He came unto his own, and his own received him not. (John 1:11 KJV) I am come in my Father’s name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive. (John 5:43 KJV) But first must he suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation. (Luke 17:25 KJV; 23:18)
TRIUMPHANT ENTRY
Prophecy
Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you; He is just and having salvation, Lowly and riding on a donkey, A colt, the foal of a donkey. (Zechariah 9:9 NKJV)
Fulfillment
Took branches of palm trees, and went forth to meet him, and cried, Hosanna: Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord. And Jesus, when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written. (John 12:13-14 KJV; See Matthew 21:1-11)
