After the massive shooting in Las Vegas on 10\/1\/2017, I figure a letter I received from Kelleigh Nelson, NWV contributor in 2014 is worth repeating. I had placed a pink stickum marked \u201ckeeper\u201d and filed it away. Isn\u2019t it interesting how it just happened to fall out of my file today?<\/p>\n
The letter was from Tom how one busy afternoon he went to WalMart and ran into a two English speaking customers from Romania. The father preferred that the son do the speaking who said he was 14 when his family immigrated to the United States in 1982. With some quick math he calculated the son was about 43 years old which corresponded with his appearance and the father around 70.<\/p>\n
Tom asked, \u201cWasn\u2019t Romania a communist country for most of your lives?\u201d \u201cYes, Romania was put under Russian communist control in 1947,\u201d the son replied. \u201cWhat was it like living under communism?\u201d he inquired. \u201cThere were good things and bad things about it,\u201d he said. Surprised that there could have been anything good about it, he asked, \u201cWhat was good about it?\u201d \u201cWell the government controlled the currency so there was no inflation and there were no taxes.\u201d\u00a0 \u201cNo taxes?\u201d he asked. \u201cYes, the government owns everything to start with so they don\u2019t have to tax you. They just give you what they want to give you. My father was a farmer. They took his land away from him and made him work on a government collective farm.\u201d<\/p>\n
\u201cDo you think America will fall to communism eventually?\u201d he asked hoping they wouldn\u2019t mind such a far-flung probing question.\u00a0 And here\u2019s why I decided to repeat this testimony by Tom from Kel:\u00a0 The son said \u201cIt\u2019s already started here and it\u2019s moving fast. It will be worse here,\u201d he said. \u00a0Tom followed them out to the parking lot arguing, \u201cThere is a difference here in America, you know. Americans are armed. They will not allow such a takeover.\u201d He replied, \u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter. The Romanian people believed very strongly that Romania would never submit to communism, but it happened quickly.<\/p>\n
The Romanian people were armed, but it didn\u2019t matter. COMMUNISTS HAVE INFORMANTS. They get neighbors to report on their neighbors who have guns, then the authorities come and seize them. They use torture to get compliance.\u00a0 Many Romanian men were burned alive for not turning over their guns, and some didn\u2019t even have guns, but the authorities burned them anyway, just to strike fear in the rest. You have to understand that communists use a lot of torture.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tom said his heart quickened as he listened to these live witnesses tell him the inside story about a communist takeover. He said he tried one more time, \u201cYou don\u2019t understand, Americans are armed with a lot more guns and a lot more ammunition than other countries.\u201d The son repeated, \u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter. They have more soldiers than you have bullets, besides in this country they have sophisticated means.<\/p>\n
Americans will not stand a chance against this government any more than we did. Your guns will be good for one thing \u2013 looters. In Katrina there were a lot of people killed by looters because they did not have guns to defend themselves. For awhile you will need guns to protect yourself from other Americans. Eventually the government will confiscate all of them.\u201d<\/p>\n
By now Tom said, we had walked to their car, a nice midsized sedan and he stood there feeling kind of glum. This was a whole lot more than he came to WalMart for. On a lighter note he said, \u201cYou weren\u2019t here in America when it was a really great country back in the 50\u2019s and 60\u2019s and even the 70\u2019s and 80\u2019s.\u201d The son said, \u201cOh, I know! It was a great country in 1982 when my parents sacrificed everything they had in world to bring us here.<\/p>\n
We were even required to permanently denounce our Romanian citizenship in order to be allowed to leave Romania. I know many other international people. Five years ago they would still sacrifice everything to come here, but now it is different. Now they ask, \u2018What is going on in America?\u2019 It has changed and people are not making the sacrifice but what we were fleeing from is coming here now.\u201d<\/p>\n
The son pointed to his father, the curious-looking little man who was the genesis of our whole conversation, who had dutifully stood alongside and listened to this entire conversation without saying a word, and the son said, \u201cMy father spent 5 years in a Romanian communist prison because of his faith.\u201d \u201cBecause of his faith?\u201d Tom asked. The son said, \u201cMy father was drafted into the Romanian army by the communists in 1950 and required to take an oath to kill any enemy of the government. Because of his faith he refused to take the oath so he was sent to prison from 1950 to 1955. And when I say \u2018prison\u2019, it was not like what we have here, with four walls and 3 meals. It was outdoors, like a Nazi concentration camp. When someone would die they would just bury him in the mud.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tom said he stood there on the pavement staring into the father\u2019s eyes as the son told him about his father\u2019s incarceration.\u00a0 It was obvious that the father understood every word they were saying and that it brought back painful memories. The father stared back at Tom for the longest time. He said it was like there was a fiber optic cable running between us with much being said without words.\u00a0 Tom stepped toward the father and extended his hand and he shook it. It was at this time Tom said he was at a loss for words so he thanked him for telling this story. He smiled, nodded yes and got into the car.<\/p>\n
Tom asked the son if he had any suggestions and he said, \u201cYes, when it happens, don\u2019t fight it. If you go along with them and make the best of it, you can do quite well. If you resist you will be tormented, tortured or hunted down and killed.\u201d<\/p>\n
Tom thanked the son for sharing his story as he got into the car and they drove off and left him standing in the parking lot stunned by the experience. He checked both directions before crossing traffic and walked straight back into WalMart and bought another box of bullets\u2026<\/p>\n
Please dear readers take note of what was said in the paragraph WHAT IS GOING ON IN AMERICA about SACRIFICING and in an earlier paragraph about neighbors tattling on neighbors and the communists having informants. We\u2019ve already seen how the communist environmentalism has caused bitterness between neighbors and left forests burning due to poor forest management, and lately bicycles wanting more safe bike lanes in Portland, Oregon.<\/p>\n

He may have gone a little too far to call the black NFL players who kneel when the National Anthem is played as disrespectful \u201cson of B___\u201d so it will be interesting to see how that plays out the next few days. While attending law school Dohrn became an anti-Vietnam war organizer and worked closely with the Black Freedom Movement. After completing her legal studies, she became a national student organizer for the New York city-based National Lawyers Guild.<\/p>\n Both of them should have been given the same punishment as the Rosenbergs in 1953 who were convicted of committing espionage for the Soviet Union and conspiring to pass U.S. atomic secrets to the Soviets but instead these home-grown pampered domestic terrorists were rewarded with jobs as professors to indoctrinate young, innocent and impressionable minds, quietly preparing them for a \u201cpassive revolution\u201d\u00a0 and delivering America\u2019s head on a silver platter, the goal of Antoni Gramsci, founder of the Italian Communist Party.<\/p>\n He went to Russia in the 1920s spending time with Lenin and Stalin, studying the anatomy of the Communist Revolution but he concluded that Lenin and Stalin were doing it all wrong.
