MOCKED AND INSULTED
Prophecy
But I am a worm, and no man; a reproach of men, and despised of the people. All they that see me laugh me to scorn: they shoot out the lip, they shake the head, saying, He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. (Psalm 22:6-8 KJV)
Fulfillment
And those who passed by blasphemed Him, wagging their heads 40 and saying, “You who destroy the temple and build it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.” (Matthew 27:39-40 NKJV; 27: 41-44; Mark 15:29-32)
GIVEN GALL AND VINEGAR
Prophecy
They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. (Psalm 69:21 KJV)
Fulfillment
Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a sponge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. (John 19:29 KJV; Matthew 27:34-48)
HEARS PROPHETIC WORDS REPEATED IN MOCKERY
Prophecy
He trusted on the LORD that he would deliver him: let him deliver him, seeing he delighted in him. (Psalm 22:8 KJV)
Fulfillment
He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God. (Matthew 27:43 KJV)
PRAYS FOR HIS ENEMIES
Prophecy
For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself unto prayer. (Psalm 109:4 KJV; See Isaiah 53:12)
Fulfillment
Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots. (Luke 23:34 KJV)
HIS SIDE WAS PIERCED
Prophecy
And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for [his] only [son], and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in bitterness for [his] firstborn. (Zechariah 12:10 KJV)
Fulfillment
But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. (John 19:34 KJV)
SOLDIERS CAST LOTS FOR HIS GARMENTS
Prophecy
They part my garments among them, and cast lots upon my vesture. (Psalms 22:18 KJV)
Fulfillment
And when they had crucified him, they parted his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take. (Mark 15:24 KJV; See John 19:24)
BURIED WITH THE RICH
Prophecy
And he made his grave with the wicked, and with the rich in his death; because he had done no violence, neither [was any] deceit in his mouth. (Isaiah 53:9 KJV)
Fulfillment
When the evening was come, there came a rich man of Arimathaea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus’ disciple: He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus. Then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.(Matthew 27:57-60 KJV)
HIS RESURRECTION
Prophecy
For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption. (Psalm 16:10 KJV)
Fulfillment
And as they went to tell his disciples, behold, Jesus met them, saying, All hail. And they came and held him by the feet, and worshipped him. (Matthew 28:9 KJV; See Luke 24:36-48; Matthew 16:21)
HIS ASCENSION
Prophecy
Thou hast ascended on high, thou hast led captivity captive: thou hast received gifts for men; yea, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them. (Psalm 68:18 KJV)
Fulfillment
And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen. (Luke 24:50-53 NKJV)
So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. (Mark 16:19 NKJV)
After he said this, he was taken up before their very eyes, and a cloud hid him from their sight. (Acts 1:9)
Conclusion
Further prophecies from the Old Testament that Yeshua is the Jewish Messiah, and how they were fulfilled in His life are well recorded in the Bible. Twenty-five details concerning the betrayal, trial, death, and burial of Jesus were fulfilled within four hours!
Probability computers estimate that if a prophecy concerning a person, place, or event has twenty-five details, there is one chance in more than thirty-three million of its accidental fulfillment.
