A Nation Set Apart

800px-Flag_of_the_United_Kingdom.svgThe Bible says that it is God who divided up the peoples of the world into nations, and who then divided to the nations their inheritance. Furthermore, it says that it is God who has determined….the bounds of their habitation and lands. God’s appointment of a nation’s geographical position and boundaries -although may be mystery to us, is directly related to its people’s and maybe to other people’s eternal salvation.

For some reason known only to Himself, God divided the nations and set the bounds of their habitations, he decreed that the people of England should dwell in a land that He Himself had constituted an island, and He had a purpose for them.

And He made from one [common origin, one source, one blood] all nations of men to settle on the face of the earth, having definitely determined [their] allotted periods of time and the fixed boundaries of their habitation (their settlements, lands, and abodes) (Acts 17:26 AMP) Furthermore, it says that when the Most High assigned lands to the nations, when He divided up the human race, He established the boundaries of the people’s according to the number in His heavenly court. (Deuteronomy 32:7- 8)

And The Bible gives the reason why:

So that they should seek God, in the hope that they might feel after Him and find Him, although He is not far from each one of us. For in Him we live and move and have our being; as even some of your [own poets have, for we are also His offspring. (Acts 17:27-28 AMP)

When God Almighty was dividing to the nations their inheritance and setting the boundaries of their habitations, He decided before hand when these nations should rise and fall and He also determined their purpose.

David Gardner wrote a book entitled The Trumpet Sounds For Britain, he points out that it was due to a mighty act of God, way back in the dim, distant, past, that Britain became an island, or a group of islands. There was a time when Britain was literally joined, in the geographical sense, to the continent of Europe and formed part of the European mainland. What then happened?

There was a tremendous severance which experts say that must have been before the Pyramids were built, a violent earth quake caused an immense convulsion to take place in the region of the North Sea, and a great oceanic surge came sweeping around the north coasts of Scotland and down towards the east coast of England.

In the midst of this convulsion, the marshy plain sank a few hundred feet beneath the waves and thus admitted the mighty Atlantic Ocean to the North Sea and the Baltic. As a result, the British islands were severed from the Continent at point roughly between Holland and what is now the coast of Norfolk and Suffolk.”

Britain, formerly known as Albion, is an island in the ocean, lying towards the North West at a considerable distance from the coasts of Germany, Gaul, and Spain, which together form the greater part of Europe. Britain remained unknown and unvisited by the Romans until the time of Gaius Julius Caesar who became Consul with Lucius Bibulus 693 years after the founding of Rome, and sixty years before the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Christendom was in Britain far earlier than most people realize. Gardner explains that “It has been reported that before Winston Churchill wrote his book The History of English Peoples, he employed an army of research workers, seeking to discover when it was that Christianity first came to the British Islands. The researchers found that the task was impossible because Christianity was already in Britain when the first missionaries arrived.
