Chuck Colson: “Salvation doesn’t Come on Air Force One”

Trump Has Broken His Promise of Defunding the American Abortion Holocaust

If some years ago Republicans could not defund Planned Parenthood (the largest network of abortion and family planning clinics in the U.S.) because socialist Democrats had a majority in the House, in the Senate and had the White House, now the upper hand belongs to Republicans. If formerly Democrats could fund abortion, now Republicans can defund it… if they want.

Yet, it seems that they do not want, even though they have been elected by their conservative constituents just for standing against abortion.

Last week, the GOP-controlled Congress passed an Omnibus Spending Bill (Omnibus Bill) valued at $1.3 trillion in order to keep the U.S. government from shutting down.

Yet, was it worthwhile not to shut it down?

Actually, Trump’s signature did much more than just hindering the U.S. government from shutting down. It hindered the abortion industry from shutting down too.

The Omnibus Bill preserves Medicaid “reimbursements” and Title X funding for “family planning.” This is to say, it maintains America’s $500 million annual contribution to Planned Parenthood, America’s largest abortion mill.

Basically, when Trump approved the Omnibus Bill, he applied capital punishment on all his promises of defunding abortion.

Does a government funding abortion deserve not to shut down?

Trump’s approval of the Omnibus Bill is especially tragic because last January he delivered a historic pro-life speech.

The big victors have been pro-abortion activists.

Abortion was not the only tragedy in the bill Trump signed.

The Omnibus Bill funds abortions and does not fund the building a Border Wall, which is essential for the U.S. security.

It funds war on babies on American soil and wars on foreign soil, by increasing military expenses. Even though the main responsibility of a military force is to guard the borders of its own nation, U.S. expenses support the U.S. Global Police, including 800 U.S. military bases around the world. It is hard to imagine a more ridiculous and hypocritical case than a nation that can guard its military ambitions around the world but is unable to guard its own backyard!

The big victors have been neocons.

Conservative columnist and author Ann Coulter late Tuesday accused President Trump of being an “ignoramus” who is “not giving us what he promised” during a speech at Columbia University.

“I knew he was a shallow, lazy ignoramus, and I didn’t care,” Coulter told the audience, which was largely comprised of College Republicans.

“It kind of breaks my heart,” she added. “He’s not giving us what he promised at every single campaign stop.”

Still, Coulter contended that Trump’s campaign was vastly preferable to those of his competitors, whom she likened to escaped mental patients.

“We had 16 lunatics being chased by men with nets running for president—and Trump,” Coulter explained. “So of course I had to be pedal-to-the-metal for Donald Trump. I’d been waiting 30 years for someone to say all these things,” probably referring to his promise to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border and also his promise to stop neocons’ military meddling in other nations.

In 2016, Coulter published the e-book “In Trump We Trust: E Pluribus Awesome!” to challenge America to vote in Trump.

The book praises Trump’s promises of

  1. Building a Wall. Coulter said, “Trump announced he was running for president in a speech talking about Mexican rapists, pledging to deport illegal aliens and build a wall.” After over one year in office, Trump has not built yet even an inch of the wall.
  2. Not meddling in Syria. Coulter said, “Trump was the only Republican—other than Rand Paul—who did not propose starting a slew of new wars in the Middle East.” Yet, last year she had to criticize him for breaking his promise on Syria.
  3. Not arming Ukraine against Russia. In her book Coulter pointed that all candidates, except for Trump, had promised to arm Ukraine. She remarked, “How many Americans wake up every night in a cold sweat in anguish about Ukraine? Even people afraid of global warming aren’t worried about that. Ukraine was part of Russia for most of its history. It would be as if Putin sent fighter jets to force America to give Texas back to Mexico. Most Americans not only don’t care if Putin takes Crimea and the Ukraine.” Yet, Trump broke his promise.
  4. Getting along with Putin. Coulter added, “Most Republicans seek to prove their conservative bona fides by having an itchy trigger finger—particularly toward Russia. These days, there’s no one to oppose them. The American left used to be totally fine with the Soviet Union—the gulags, the invading Eastern Europe, the show trials. Until the anti-gay stuff. Now the Russkies are walking on the fighting side of liberals!” Even Trump has embarked the anti-Putin train.

Coulter is right. Trump is not giving America what he promised at every single campaign stop — at least, not on foreign policy, where Trump used to disgust neocons, but now he pleases them on every at every single point.

The vital mission of the military is to protect its own backyard. The U.S. military is failing horribly in this mission, because they are too busy in neocons’ military adventures in other nations.

Before Trump approving the Omnibus Bill, pro-life leaders pleaded with him to veto it.

“Mr. President, Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion business in the U.S., making them one of the largest abusers of human beings in the world,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue and one of the founding members of the Center for Medical Progress. “It is currently under investigation by your Department of Justice for engaging in the illegal sale of aborted baby remains for profit, as revealed in a series of authenticated undercover videos that shook the nation in 2015.”

“During your 2016 Presidential Campaign, you promised to defund Planned Parenthood,” he reminded Trump. “I urge you now to keep your promise and veto the Omnibus bill until it no longer provides any of our tax money to Planned Parenthood.”

Yet, Trump broke his promise. He did not veto the Omnibus Bill.

If a foreign force were slaughtering over 500,000 innocent American babies a year, the U.S. military would work to defeat the perpetrator. Such high numbers of innocent lives are actually being destroyed on American soil, and the perpetrator is not China and not even America’s favorite bogeyman: Russia. The perpetrators are abortion mills, especially Planned Parenthood. Abortion is today the leading cause of murder in the United States.

The U.S. military is doing nothing to destroy this enemy.

President Trump, who for so many times has promised to defund Planned Parenthood and its abortion holocaust, signed the Omnibus Bill. In the past, the U.S. Abortion Holocaust had the assistance of socialist Democrats to keep killing. Now the U.S. Abortion Holocaust needed Trump’s assistance, and it received.

No government deserves to continue operating by delivering its innocent babies on the medical altar of slaughter.

No government deserves to continue operating by abandoning the protection of its borders to invest in the military meddling of other nations’ borders, just to satisfy neocons.

It just sad that conservatives vote for politicians to save America from abortion, and then politicians need to keep funding abortion to save the government from shutting down.

What is the point for conservative constituents to elect “conservative” politicians if they eventually approve funding for abortion?

“I say to Congress, I will never sign another bill like this again,” Trump said earlier this month. An insightful cartoon portrays Trump about to jump from a plank from a skyscraper and promising to his advisers “Ok, but I’m never doing this again.” There will no second chance.

For the sake of innocent babies condemned to medical and government slaughter, could American conservatives just shut down the U.S. government? Or will they wait for God to do it?

Pentecostals and Evangelicals Most Persecuted Group of Christianity

Pentecostals and evangelicals are the most persecuted branch of Christianity, a new report says.

“Protestant evangelical and Pentecostal Christians are more likely to be persecuted than mainline Protestants, Catholics, Orthodox Christians or other Christians associated with ancient churches. In response to persecution, evangelical and Pentecostal Christians are more likely to engage in strategies of survival or, on rare occasions, confrontation,” reads the report by Under Caesar’s Sword.

UCS is a three-year, collaborative global research project that investigates how Christian communities respond when their religious freedom is severely violated.

In 2016, Christianity was ranked as the most persecuted religion in the world. In those same figures, Islamic State (ISIS) murders of Christians accounted for 30 percent of the persecution. ISIS has committed genocide against Christians in Syria and Iraq. According to Trump, Obama founded ISIS.

UCS gives three reasons to account for the horrific acts committed against believers.

In many countries, evangelicals and Pentecostals are comparatively recent arrivals and thus have not established patterns of relating to surrounding populations and governments to the same degree as churches with decades or centuries of history in a given region.

Evangelicals and Pentecostals are often perceived to be supported by co-religionists and allies in the West. Especially Muslims hate the connections evangelicals and Pentecostals have with Christian groups in the United States.

Evangelicals and Pentecostals tend to understand evangelism and conversion as verbal, urgent and sometimes dramatic processes and, consequently, expect and are prepared to endure persecution.

To combat the violence against Christ-followers, UCS recommends “Churches need to understand their global responsibility for Christians under persecution and achieve unity across Christian communities in supporting persecuted minorities. Particular stress should be placed on building bridges connecting traditional Protestant, Catholic, and Orthodox churches with evangelical and Pentecostal groups.”

Christians have been historically persecuted by Islam.

Speaking January 2017 on Vatican Radio, Massimo Introvigne, Director of the Centre for Studies on New Religions, said that around half a billion Christians in the world are unable to express their faith completely freely — with around 90,000 Christians who were killed for their faith in 2016 alone, which is the equivalent of one Christian being martyred every six minutes.

In March 2016, the Chaldean Bishop of Aleppo reported that in just five years of conflict, the Christian population of Syria has been reduced by two thirds from 1.5 million to just 500,000, according to a Breitbart report.

Many Syrian Christians were killed by ISIS, founded by Hillary Clinton, or by Syrian rebels, funded, armed and trained by the Obama administration and now by the Trump administration. While the Syrian government was fighting ISIS, the Obama administration was helping Islamic rebels who were essentially damaging the Syrian government’s war against ISIS.

Such reality puts the U.S. behind Islamic persecution of Christians. In fact, according to the 2016 World Watch List, published by Open Doors USA, even though North Korea is the number one in Christian persecution, the other countries that ranked highest on such persecution were Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq.

This is very bad news for the U.S., which has been militarily interfering in Syria and which invaded and intervened in Afghanistan and Iraq. The results are obviously appalling, at least for Christians.

In 2014, Raymond Ibrahim, author of the bestselling book “Crucified Again,” said in his article “Confirmed: U.S. Chief Facilitator of Christian Persecution”:

Whenever the U.S. intervenes in an Islamic nation, Islamists come to power. This is well demonstrated by the other three nations to which the U.S. brought “democracy” and where Christian minorities suffer “extreme persecution”:

Afghanistan: The supposedly “moderate” Karzai government installed by the U.S. upholds many of the draconian laws enforced by the Taliban—including the apostasy law, fiercely persecuting those who seek to convert to Christianity—and, in 2011, under U.S. auspices, it destroyed Afghanistan’s last Christian church.

Iraq: After the U.S. toppled Saddam Hussein, Christian minorities were savagely attacked and slaughtered, and dozens of their churches were bombed (see here for graphic images). Christians have been terrorized into near-extinction, with well over half of them fleeing Iraq.

Libya: Ever since U.S.-backed, al-Qaeda-linked terrorists overthrew Qaddafi, Christians—including Americanshave indeed suffered extreme persecution. Churches have been bombed; Christians have been tortured and killed (including for refusing to convert); and nuns have been threatened.

Surely a common theme emerges here: Where the U.S. works to oust secular autocrats, the quality of life for Christians and other minorities takes a major nosedive. Under Saddam, Qaddafi, and Assad, Christians and their churches were largely protected.

Ibrahim then said, “Prominent indicators confirm that the U.S. is the chief facilitator of the persecution of Christians around the world today.”

During his campaign, Donald Trump said that the administration of former President George W. Bush lied about his reasons to invade Iraq. Trump said that he opposed such invasion. Christians in Iraq took a very heavy toll for Bush’s bad decision. The Iraqi Christian community, which was over 2 million before the U.S. invasion, is now less than 400,000.

Under Bush and Obama, while Muslims in Syria, Afghanistan and Iraq had facilitated immigration to the U.S., Christians were essentially banned. Oppressors in, victims out. During his campaign, Trump made many promises to correct this incredible immigratory inconsistency by favoring Christian victims, not Islamic oppressors. But until far, he has not fulfilled his promises.

On the contrary, in the first days of his administration, Trump, through his CIA director, rewarded Saudi Arabia for fighting Islamic terror, when actually the Saudi dictatorship is the main sponsor of the global Islamic terrorism.

Saudi Arabia has today more Christian blood in its hands than any other Muslim nation. Even so, in his planned trip to Israel this month, Trump intends at the same time to visit Saudi Arabia. Trump seems to have forgotten the role of Saudi leadership in the global Islamic terrorism, including that most terrorist Muslims in the 9/11 were Saudi.

The United States, founded by Christians, more specifically by Protestants, should give priority to persecuted Christians, including by helping Christian immigrants, especially persecuted by Muslims, but since some thirty years ago it has been giving priority to Muslims. The U.S. has protected Saudi Arabia and Islam, not Christians.

For his visit to Israel this month, I would have two suggestions to Mr. President Trump: Because Israel has an active military involvement in Syria, encourage Israel to bomb ISIS bases in Syria and to receive Christian refugees from Syria. The second suggestion is: Exclude Saudi Arabia and include Armenia, the first officially Christian nation in the world.

In this trip, Trump should recognize the Armenian Genocide, where almost 2 million Christian Armenians were slaughtered by Turkish Muslims 100 years ago. Such acknowledgment would send the clear message that the Trump administration is seriously worried about Islamic persecution of Christians.

While Christians are the most persecuted religious group on the earth, Muslims are the main persecutors of Christians in the world. So why has the Trump administration had an excellent relationship with Saudi Arabia, not Armenia?

Christians in Syria are Terrified

The old Christian quarter of Jdeydeh, Aleppo, Source: Wikipedia

U.S. President Donald Trump took the world by surprise when he ordered the U.S. military to launch a cruise missile strike on a Syrian airbase Thursday in reaction to a deadly chemical attack, allegedly by the Syrian government, on Islamic rebels formerly supported by Obama and now by Trump.

Dozens of rebels were killed, and at least 10 children. Republican neocons led by Senator John McCain used the attack to push Trump to attack the Syrian government. Hillary Clinton called for bombing of Assad’s airfields hours before Trump’s airstrike.

The major problem that Trump faces in foreign policy is neocons, and he clearly identified it before his election. But now he does not recognize this problem anymore.

Yet, the reason for Trump’s attack on Syria has been disputed.

Former senator Ron Paul said:

It doesn’t make any sense for Assad under these conditions to all of a sudden use poison gasses. I think there is a zero chance he would have done, you know, this deliberately.

Joseph Farah, WorldNetDaily (WND) chief, said:

I strongly disagree with President Trump’s decision to attack Syria… There are two warring parties in Syria – the Syrian government, which is attempting to repulse an invasion and partial occupation of Syrian territory, and ISIS, a terrorist plague on the entire world, not just Assad’s regime… Both of those parties have been accused of deploying sarin weapons against civilians, though I have yet to see any proof that Assad ever did… ISIS is the primary opposition to Assad.

According to Infowars:

The White Helmets, a al-Qaeda affiliated group funded by George Soros and the British government, reportedly staged the sarin attack on civilians in the Syrian city of Khan Shaykhun to lay blame on the Syrian government.

The Syrian government has been in a deadly war against two enemies: ISIS and Islamic rebels supported formerly by Obama and now by Trump. In 2015 Obama gave to these rebels $500 million for “training.” A multimillion dollar investment against a government fighting ISIS.

To fight only against ISIS is a huge challenge. How to fight at the same time against two enemies facilitated or trained by the U.S.? Even Trump recognized last year that ISIS was founded by Obama. But he never attacked ISIS as he is attacking Syria. By attacking Syria, he is automatically helping ISIS.

Hillary Clinton, John McCain, Lindsay Graham, Paul Ryan and leftists have praised Trump’s attack on Syria. Incidentally, all of them were or are in George Soros’s payroll.

But praises are not coming from conservatives.

Michael Savage, a powerful anti-neocon writer, had called Trump the Winston Churchill of our time” in July 2015. But now, on his Thursday radio show, Savage complained, “The generals have gotten to him and turned him from peace with Russia. And the people standing in the way of war, like Steve Bannon, are being shown the door. This beating of the war drums with Russia has to stop.”

Alex Jones, of Infowars, said in February that he was ready to die for Trump.” Now that Trump launched airstrikes against Syria, Jones said on a Friday livestream, “Trump is really disintegrating in my eyes on many levels.”

Ann Coulter, U.S. conservative author and political commentator who had been an ardent Trump supporter and wrote a book titled “In Trump We Trust” last year, has used social media to criticize the Trump’s decision. “Those who wanted us meddling in the Middle East voted for other candidates,” she wrote on Twitter in the early hours of Friday morning, adding:

“Trump campaigned on not getting involved in Mideast. Said it always helps our enemies & creates more refugees. Then he saw a picture on TV.”

— Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) April 7, 2017

“Christians who live in Syria are terrified of what will happen if Assad is gone.”

— Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) April 7, 2017

“What follows Assad? What followed Saddam? Gaddafi? 15 yrs, 6k lost heroes 500k massacred Christians $5 Trill–for what?”

— Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) April 7, 2017

Coulter and a number of Trump’s well-known supporters have expressed their surprise — and fear — at Trump’s hasty decision, which is totally at odds with his previous stance on interventionism. As a presidential candidate, Trump campaigned against military exploits abroad, often railing against Bush and his war in Iraq. In December, shortly after winning election, he said “we will stop racing to topple foreign regimes that we know nothing about, that we shouldn’t be involved with.”

When Obama was considering military action against Syria in 2013, Trump strongly urged him not to do it.

In one September 5, 2013 all-caps criticism, Trump tweeted, “AGAIN, TO OUR VERY FOOLISH LEADER, DO NOT ATTACK SYRIA – IF YOU DO MANY VERY BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN & FROM THAT FIGHT THE U.S. GETS NOTHING!”

“Don’t attack Syria – an attack that will bring nothing but trouble for the U.S. Focus on making our country strong and great again!” Trump tweeted four days later.

During the presidential campaign, Trump also bashed Hillary Clinton for her disastrous foreign policy, tweeting, “Crooked Hillary Clinton’s foreign interventions unleashed ISIS in Syria, Iraq and Libya. She is reckless and dangerous!”

What has made Trump change his mind and act as Hillary would have done, by helping ISIS in Syria? What has made him listen to neocons?

After all, what is the point of being pro-life within the United States and not being pro-life for Christians directly threatened by ISIS in Syria?

What is for sure is that the Trump who attacked Syria and helped ISIS is not the same Trump who lambasted neocons last year. Where is the original anti-neocon Trump?

Armenia, the first Christian Nation in the World, and the first Genocide in the 20th century

armeniaThe 7th-century Khor Virap monastery in the shadow of Mount Ararat, the peak on which Noah’s Ark is said to have landed during the Biblical flood.

Armenia was the first nation to become Christian during the Roman era. According to ancient tradition, Noah’s Ark rested on Mount Ararat in the Armenian Mountain Range.Armenia’s Coat of Arms has Mount Ararat with Noah’s Ark on top.

Armenian historian Movses Khorenatsi (410-490 AD) recounted the tradition that Noah’s son Japheth had a descendant named Hayk who shot an arrow in a battle near Lake Van c.2,500 BC killing Nimrod, builder of the Tower of Babel who was the first powerful tyrant of the ancient world.

Hayk is the origin of “Hayastan,” the Armenian name for Armenia. Ancient Armenians may have had some relations with the Hittites and Hurrians, who inhabited that area known as Anatolia in the 2nd millennium BC. Armenia’s major city of Yerevan, founded in 782 BC in the shadow of Mount Ararat, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world.

Armenia was first mentioned by name in 520 BC by Darius the Great of Persia. Borders reached their greatest extent under Armenia’s King Tigrane the Great, 95-55 BC, reaching from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean Sea, pushing back the Parthians, Seleucids and the Roman Republic.

Armenia was the first nation in the world to officially adopt Christianity as its state religion around 301 AD, with the conversion of King Tiridates III.

Armenia’s thousands of years of history include independence interspersed by occupations of Greeks, Romans, Persians, Byzantines, Mongols, Arabs, Ottoman Turks, and Soviets.

Armenia’s medieval capital of Ani was called “the city of a 1,001 churches,” with a population of 200,000, rivaling Constantinople, Baghdad and Damascus. In 1064, Sultan Alp Arslan and Muslim Turks invaded and destroyed the city of Ani. Arab historian Sibt ibn al-Jawzi recorded:

The army entered the city, massacred its inhabitants, pillaged and burned it, leaving it in ruins… Dead bodies were so many that they blocked the streets; one could not go anywhere without stepping over them. And the number of prisoners was not less than 50,000 souls… I was determined to enter city and see the destruction with my own eyes. I tried to find a street in which I would not have to walk over the corpses, but that was impossible.

Muslim Turks made conquered Christians, Jewish, and non-Muslim populations into second-class citizens called “dhimmi” and required them to ransom their lives once a year by paying an exorbitant “jizyah” tax.

Sultan Murat I (1359-1389) began the practice of “devshirme” — taking boys from the conquered Armenian and Greek families. These innocent Christian boys were systematically traumatized and indoctrinated into becoming ferocious Muslim warriors called “Janissaries,” similar to Egypt’s “Mamluk” slave soldiers.

Janissaries were forced to call the Sultan their father and were forbidden to marry, giving rise to depraved practices and the abhorrent pederasty of the Turks.
For centuries Turks conquered throughout the Mediterranean, Middle East, Eastern Europe, Spain and North Africa, carrying tens of thousands into slavery.

Beginning in the early 1800s, the Turkish Ottoman Empire began to decline. Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria and Romania won their independence.

When Armenia’s sentiments leaned toward independence, Sultan Abdul Hamid put an end to it by massacring 100,000 Armenian Christians in the 1890s.

President Grover Cleveland told Congress, December 2, 1895:

Occurrences in Turkey have continued to excite concern… Massacres of Christians in Armenia and the development… of a spirit of fanatic hostility to Christian influences…have lately shocked civilization.

President Grover Cleveland told Congress, December 7, 1896:

Disturbed condition in Asiatic Turkey… rage of mad bigotry and cruel fanaticism… wanton destruction of homes and the bloody butchery of men, women, and children, made martyrs to their profession of Christian faith… Outbreaks of blind fury which lead to murder and pillage in Turkey occur suddenly and without notice…

President Theodore Roosevelt described to Congress, December 6, 1904:

Systematic and long-extended cruelty and oppression…of which the Armenians have been the victims, and which have won for them the indignant pity of the civilized world.

When Sultan Abdul Hamid II was deposed in 1908, there was a brief euphoria, with citizens naively hoping that Turkey would have a constitutional government. The government was taken over by the “Young Turks,” led by three leaders or “pashas”: Mehmed Talaat Pasha, Ismail Enver Pasha, and Ahmed Djemal Pasha.

They appeared as if they were planning to enact democratic reforms while they were clandestinely implementing a genocidal plan to rid the land of all who were not Muslims Turks.

The first step involved recruiting all the Armenian young men into the military. Next they made them “non-combatant” soldiers and took away their weapons.
Finally, they marched them into the woods and deserts where they were ambushed and massacred.

With the Armenian young men gone, Armenian cities and villages were defenseless. Nearly 2 million old men, women and children were marched into the desert, thrown off cliffs or burnt alive.

Entire Armenian communities were deported to the deserts of Syria and Mesopotamia where hundreds of thousands were killed or starved to death.

Russia came to Armenia’s aid against Turkey, because the Russian czar was the protector of the Christian Armenians, but then the strength of the czar and his armies was being depleted by Lenin’s Bolshevik revolution, which eventually took over Russia and murdered the czar and his family. This is how a communist revolution brought persecution to Russian Christians and hindered them from helping Armenian Christians.

Theodore Roosevelt wrote in Fear God and Take Your Own Part (1916):

Armenians, who for some centuries have sedulously avoided militarism and war… are so suffering precisely and exactly because they have been pacifists whereas their neighbors, the Turks, have… been… militarists… During the last year and a half… Armenians have been subjected to wrongs far greater than any that have been committed since the close of the Napoleonic Wars… Fearful atrocities… Serbia is at this moment passing under the harrow of torture and mortal anguish…

Theodore Roosevelt continued:

Armenians have been butchered under circumstances of murder and torture and rape that would have appealed to an old-time Apache Indian… Wholesale slaughter of the Armenians… The crowning outrage has been committed by the Turks on the Armenians… I trust that all Americans worthy of the name feel their deepest indignation and keenest sympathy aroused by the dreadful Armenian atrocities.

Historian Arnold Toynbee wrote:

The Turks draft the criminals from their prisons into the Gendarmeri to exterminate the Armenian race… In 1913 the Turkish Army was engaged in exterminating the Albanians… Greeks and Slavs left in the territory… The same campaign of extermination has been waged against the Nestorian Christians on the Persian frontier… In Syria there is a reign of terror…

Toynbee continued:

Turkish rule… is… slaughtering or driving from their homes, the Christian population… Only a third of the two million Armenians in Turkey have survived, and that at the price of apostatizing to Islam or else of leaving all they had and fleeing across the frontier…

President Woodrow Wilson, addressed Congress, May 24, 1920:

The Senate Committee on Foreign Relations has established the truth of the reported massacres and other atrocities from which the Armenian people have suffered… deplorable conditions of insecurity, starvation, and misery now prevalent in Armenia… Sympathy for Armenia among our people has sprung from untainted consciences, pure Christian faith and an earnest desire to see Christian people everywhere succored in their time of suffering.

Perhaps the most astonishing testimony about the Armenian genocide was told by Demos Shakarian (1913–1993), who was an American Christian businessman of Armenian origin, based in Los Angeles, and who founded the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship International (FGBMFI), a Christian organization to bring the Gospel to businessmen.

Demos was named after his grandfather, who left Armenia for America due to the 1855 prophecy of the Russian “Boy Prophet,” Efim Gerasemovitch Klubniken, that an unspeakable tragedy was to soon come upon Armenia. His grandfather and Efim were part of a large group of Pentecostal Christian Armenians who moved to Los Angeles years before the Azusa Street Revival.

Efim’s family was Russian and they were the first Pentecostal Russians to move to Armenia. From earliest childhood Efim had shown a gift for prayer, frequently going on long fasts, praying around the clock.

In the 1850s, when the illiterate Efim was eleven years old, he had heard the Lord calling him again to one of his prayer vigils. This time he persisted for seven days and nights, and during this time received a vision. But what Efim was able to do during those seven days was not so easy to explain.

Efim could neither read nor write. Yet, as he sat in the little stone cottage, he saw before him a vision of charts and a message in a beautiful handwriting. Efim asked for pen and paper. And for seven days sitting at the rough plank-table where the family ate, he laboriously copied down the form and shape of letters and diagrams that passed before his eyes.

When he had finished, the manuscript was taken to people in the village who could read. It turned out that this illiterate child had written out in Russian characters a series of instructions and warnings. At some unspecified time in the future, the boy wrote, every Christian in Armenia would be in terrible danger. He foretold a time of unspeakable tragedy for Armenia, when hundreds of thousands of men, women, and children would be brutally murdered. The time would come, he warned, when everyone in the region must flee. They must go to a land across the sea.

Although he had never seen a geography book, the Boy Prophet drew a map showing exactly where the fleeing Christians were to go. To the amazement of the adults, he drew the Atlantic Ocean! There was no doubt about it, nor about the identity of the land on the other side: the map plainly indicated the east coast of the United States of America.

They chose Los Angeles, where many Pentecostal Russians settled before the Azusa Street Revival. There, the boy wrote, God would bless them and prosper them, and cause their seed to be a blessing to the nations.

Many Armenian Christians were not convinced that the prophetic message was not genuine.

And then, a little after the turn of the century, Efim announced that the time was near for the fulfilment of the words he had written down nearly fifty years before. He said, “We must flee to America. All who remain here will perish.”

Armenian Pentecostal families packed up and left the holdings that had been their ancestral possessions time out of mind. Efim and his family were among the first to go. As each group of Pentecostals left Armenia, they were jeered by those who remained behind. Skeptical and disbelieving folk — including many Christians — refused to believe that God could issue pinpoint instructions for modern people in a modern age.

But the instructions proved correct. In 1914 a period of unimaginable horror arrived for Armenia. With remorseless efficiency the Turks began the bloody business of driving two-thirds of the population out into the Mesopotamian desert. Over a million men, women and children died in these death marches. Another half a million were massacred in their villages, in a pogrom that was later to provide Hitler his blueprint for the extermination of the Jews. “The world did not intervene when Turkey wiped out the Armenians,” Hitler reminded his followers. “It will not intervene now.

The few Armenians who managed to escape the besieged areas brought with them tales of great heroism. They reported that the Turks sometimes gave Christians an opportunity to deny their faith in exchange for their lives. The favorite procedure was to lock a group of Christians in a barn and set it afire: “If you are willing to accept Mohammed in place of Christ we’ll open the doors.” Time and again, the Christians chose to die, chanting hymns of praise as the flames engulfed them.

There are those today, especially Muslims and Turks, who deny the Armenian genocide, just as they deny that Nazi Germany committed a Holocaust against the Jews. And there are also those who deny God speaks and warns today through prophecies, visions and revelations. Yet, those who had heeded the prophecy of the Russian boy headed to Los Angeles, U.S. and were saved.
